Understanding ringworm: Symptoms, causes, and effective treatments
Itchy, red, and ring-shaped rash on the skin?
It could be ringworm.
This common fungal infection can pop up in different parts of the body like the feet, groin, or the scalp. It is particularly common in kids, and can spread easily through direct contact, unwashed clothing, or damp areas like showers or pool changing rooms. Pets carrying the fungus can also pass on ringworm.
👀 Spotting ringworm: Look for itchy, raised, scaly patches with a pale centre that might blister and crust. The patches typically have a sharply defined edge which looks like a ring and the centre is paler in colour.
🦶 Signs on the feet: Cracks, peeling skin, blisters, and soggy-looking skin especially between toes or on the soles. Children might feel an itching, stinging, or burning sensation there too.
